The Twilight Zone

No, I’m not talking about the movie. (Although anyone who knows me well, knows that I highly enjoy those movies and I’m not ashamed to admit it.) Nope, I’m talking about the little piece of plastic beauty I just received in the mail called the Holga. Specifically, a Twilight Zone Holga, because of the colors. Clever, I know. I didn’t come up with it. I thought about going with the Zinging Yellow one, and even the Periwinkle Fairy one (I did come up with those), but I ended up going with the Twilight Zone.

For any of you who have never heard of a Holga camera before, it is simply a very old-school film camera made completely out of plastic. Yep, even the lens. It’s also known as a toy camera, because that’s basically what it is. A plastic, toy  camera that takes ridiculously awesome looking pictures. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to shoot yet, but I’m planning on shooting this weekend. And after I develop and enlarge, I will be sure to share with you :) As you can tell, I’m quite excited about this little guy. I’ve been looking forward to shooting with a Holga for the past year. It’s not an easy thing, to shoot with a Holga. You only have two aperture choices and two shutter speed choices, and on top of that the viewfinder does not actually go through the lens, so what you see is not what the camera will see. Like I said, kinda tricky. (I will probably actually be terrible for the first roll or two, and then I will show you the third one that actually turns out. haha) All in all, I’m excited to experiment.

Oh and one other thing…. my website isn’t showing up in Google yet. After doing a little research and getting some feedback from other awesome photographers, I think it’s going to take a little while for Google and other search engines to recognize it, and then it needs to be viewed a bunch and linked from other sites in order to bring it to the top. So, feel free to take a look as often as you want ;)

Ok that’s all I’ve got for today. Here are few shots of my new baby, in case you’re interested!

A few vintage edits, for fun.

Yes, me and this little guy are going to have some good times together.

Back to the darkroom and chemicals I go!!

Yeah, it takes a little time for those search engine bugs to crawl through all the web. There is a spot on Google.com where you can submit your site URL. Other search engines will find it eventually, but you can speed up the process a little bit with Google here: http://www.google.com/addurl/
