I keep forgetting that today is Labor Day. Jake still has to work, and I’m not in tune with the school schedule anymore, so it doesn’t seem like a day off. Good thing my neighbors have been putting the American flag in their yards or I might not have remembered at all. But it IS Labor Day, and thanks to some flags, I DID remember. So in honor of today, go enjoy a pumpkin scone and a vanilla latte! Or enjoy some watermelon and an ice cold glass of lemonade! (Whichever way you swing.) And finally, enjoy some of my favorites from a wedding last month second shooting for Stacy Young. Stacy is the incredible photographer behind ThreeWinks Studio. I was thrilled to be able to work by her side and learn all her top secrets. Haha kidding. (Or am I?) Anyways, thank you, Stacy, for allowing me to learn from you and shoot with you. I had a blast! I think these might have been the cutest grandparents I’ve ever seen. (Other than mine, of course ;)

They had a lovely ceremony.

I loooved the rose petal idea!

The weather started to turn on us…

But fortunately it cleared just enough to snap some family formals across the street at the State Capitol.

So. Cute.

After formals, they headed over to the McCune Mansion in style.

A classic cake.

McCune Mansion was full of beautiful details.

After some great food it was time for toasts.

After some great toasts, it was time for dancing.

And dance they did.

Long into the night, they danced to their happily ever after.

The first time Zach called me about shooting his wedding was actually the night of my rehearsal dinner. I looked at my phone, saw a number I didn’t know, and answered. I don’t know what compelled me to answer my phone, considering it was a crazy night and I could have left him to my answering machine. But I am so glad that I didn’t. If I hadn’t answered, I might not have called him back until after my honeymoon, which in turn could have caused me to miss this beautiful couple’s lovely celebration… However, no need to dwell on such things, because I was able to be a part of their day, and it was such an honor!!

Due to our hectic summer schedules, we never actually had the chance to meet before the big day. And although Zach was nothing but a perfect gentleman on the phone, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. But the moment they came out of the doors, their faces overflowing with pure love and ecstatic joy, I knew it was going to be a good day. Kellie and Zach are one of the happiest and laid back couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. They were up for anything, and not to mention a gorgeous pair! But beyond that, beyond the dazzling dress and elegant flowers, beyond the fitted tuxes and polished shoes, their love for each other was apparent in every picture I snapped, and THAT is what makes me love my job. Kellie and Zach, and I am truly so happy for the both of you, and so thankful that I was a part of your beautiful wedding!! Congratulations!!!

Then we headed off to a quaint, intimate brunch.

The tables settings were lovely.

Culinary Crafts did an UHmazing job.

And, my personal favorite… dessert!!!

I figured adding some rings would make them a little sweeter ;)

Kellie changed into an amazing second dress for brunch.

One of the things I love most about my job is getting to meet incredible people. However, it’s always an honor when it’s someone you already know! I had the pleasure of living with Renee our junior year of college. When you live in an apartment with three other girls, let’s just say you get pretty close ;) And what’s even better, she got engaged just one month after I did! So we had lots of fun looking at bridal magazines, talking about bridesmaid dresses and color schemes (which, fyi, we picked the same colors… Great minds think alike, I always say!), and planning our weddings all year :)  When she came to me about photographing their wedding, I was thrilled. It seems like so long ago, too.

But a year and a half went by, we’re both married, and I had the honor of documenting their love on a gorgeous July day in Pennsylvania. Brian and Renee, I can’t tell you how happy I am for you both! It was amazing getting to know the two of you and watching your love grow stronger. I’m so excited for what the future has in store for you guys. Lots of love!

After all the final touches, we headed to Chapman for the ceremony.

They radiated joy till the moment they left… and then some.

She sat perfectly poised, a cup of Starbucks on the table beside her, becoming more beautiful by the minute as her hair and make up received their finishing touches. She laughed to herself as she checked her phone, explaining that Joe was panicking because he couldn’t find his iPod. Although few minutes later he reported that it was found, it didn’t matter. Nothing could have ruined this day. The day they had been waiting for since they realized they were going to spend the rest of their lives together. It was finally here. It was their day. And it was all about their love. A contagious kind of love that was palpable in the air. Nothing could put a damper on that.

Joe and Jess, I am so happy for you guys, and so honored that I was able to be a part of your special day!! I wish you two nothing but the best, and I know that your love will continue to flourish with every day that passes. Much love!!

And then came the bride. One of the most touching ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed!

But no, it didn’t end there….

That’s right internet, the lovebirds decided to hit an In-N-Out on their way out, and invited me to come along!! Does not get much better than that!

In case you’ve never had the experience of In-N-Out, they have the best fries. IN THE WORLD.

Finally, on full stomachs and happy taste buds, they headed off into the night, together forever.

Zach and Kara’s relationship started with kiss. A kiss between Kara and another actor in their high school play. A kiss that, according to Zach’s standards, was not going to cut it. He went on to critique Kara on how the kiss should be performed, making sure it would be just right. Of course, Kara was thinking who is this guy?? But from this odd introduction grew a friendship. And from that friendship grew love and respect. Soon he would do more than just tell her how it’s done :)  They stayed together through high school and after they graduated, going to IWU and both studying to be ministry majors. (High school sweethearts represent!)

Zach and Kara are some of the most loving, genuine people I’ve ever met. They have a huge heart for the Lord, and shower kindness on everyone around them. Their happiness is contagious. And I could not be more happy for them! Thank you, you two, for allowing me to a part of your special day! I had SO much fun and I know you guys are going to do great things. Enjoy life together. You deserve it :)

After the ceremony we hopped in the car to take some pictures downtown.

Their bridal party was hilarious.

After some shots with the bridal party, we headed to get some of the newlyweds.

Her bouquet was gorgeous.

And she did her own hair! Isn’t it fabulous?

I lurved her vintage necklace.

And Zach was looking quite dapper!

Last but not least, we headed into the cutest ice cream shop I’ve ever seen!

Finally we headed to the reception.

They had a table full of their parents’, grandparents’, and great-grandparents’ wedding pictures. It was amazing!

I will say one thing about their reception, I have never heard so many clanging glasses in my life!

So they started charging people for kisses which, I thought, was genius!

Their first dance could not have been more romantic.

I thought about ending on that picture, but their reception was SO much fun I just had to post a few of my favorite dance pictures :)

And then they slipped away to their happily ever after…

Congratulations Kara and Zach!!!!

This is probably one of the most fun and upbeat weddings I have ever been to! Cindy and Bill were hilarious and so great to work with. The beautiful ceremony took place outside at the Park Meadows Country Club, followed by an awesome evening of food and dancing inside. I took SO many pictures it ended up being really hard deciding which pictures to give them! Needless to say, it ended up being a LOT… haha. Here are some of my favorite shots from their wedding! (Warning: This post is very long. I am extremely indecisive, and the amount of pictures in this post proves it…)

Here is another wedding I did assisting Scott. These guys got married at the Bountiful Temple and had a cute, quaint reception in the backyard of Nicole’s grandparents. They were very outgoing and fun-loving! My favorite thing about this couple: they didn’t sweat the small stuff. It was their day, and they were going to enjoy it. Everything from the rain and wind to when we got yelled at for being on the temple walls for a picture, they just shrugged it off and laughed. It was a great wedding! 

This is what we got yelled at for. Apparently you’re not allowed on the walls! 

This particular day was quite an interesting day. This was the day that Scott had 3 weddings!!! It was definitely one of the longest days I’ve had, but it was so worth it. I learned a ton, and had fun doing it! Kylie and Daniel were such a blast to photograph. They were both incredibly kind and made sure everyone was having a good time. Plus they were pretty easy to take pictures of, which is always a plus. Enjoy!

The weather was perfect for this wedding. I couldn’t have asked for a better day! Plus it doesn’t hurt when the bride and groom are totally awesome. Marie and Charles were super fun to work with! Both so nice. She was a natural and hardly needed any posing instruction. What a beautiful couple.

Heyo my second post!! Well here are some pictures from one of the weddings I assisted Scott Jarvie. We did their couple shots around the temple a few weeks before the actual wedding so that we could save some time on the wedding day. This works out pretty nicely and is definitely a big time saver, that is as long as you’re not a bride who doesn’t want to be seen in your dress before the big day. Thank you Scott for letting me come along!
